Research proves NITDA is still accessing Twitter in Nigeria after the social media application was banned by the Federal Government in the country.

Recall the Nigerian Federal Government through the Ministry of Information on June 4th, 2021 announced that the government has imposed a ban on the micro-blogging site in the country, restricting its citizens from accessing the site from the country.
Many of its citizens are now forced to use Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) before they can access the site from Nigeria as the ban is still in full force.
Well, research conducted by Digital Africa Research Lab indicates the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), a Nigerian government that develops and regulates information technology in the country has been hiding behind these VPNs and has been accessing the site despite the ban.
According to a post on their official Twitter page, NITDA not only did they use VPNs to access Twitter which at this time is under a ban but also used the official site to like a post about ‘Igbo Muslims’ which is not related to IT in any way.
The post also suggests most Nigerian government agencies and some top government officials has been using VPNs to aid them access Twitter since the announcement of the ban.
