Canadian rapper and Pop star Drake will be honored as the Artist of the Decade in the forthcoming 2021 Billboard Music Awards scheduled to take place on May 23rd, 2021.

According to Billboard, the rapper has been top charts and ‘smashing’ records since he came into the music industry and emerged as the top winner among other top musicians and now crowns Billboard’s Top Artists of the 2010s recap.

Billboard says Drake’s dominance during the last decade wins him top honors in the overall top artist category. He was ranked the best-performing artist based on his performance and activities on the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart and the Billboard 200 albums tally. Other methodology used were social media data and touring revenue from Billboard Boxscore, during the last decade.

Drake first made his appearance on the Billboard charts in 2009 and has since be dominant on the charts with nine number one debuts on the Billboard 200 Album chart starting from his first long-playing vinyl record (LP), ‘Thank Me Later’ in 2010 and his latest number one album ‘Care Package’ in 2019.

He has also scored six number ones during this time frame on the Billboard Hoot 100 chart since his debut, he has obliterated numerous chart records, including the most Hot 100 top 10s (45, to-date) and overall entries (232).

Drake is currently preparing to release his much anticipated album titled ‘Certified Boy Lover’. The album was scheduled to be released in January 2021 but the rapper postpone the release of the album after having a surgery. He has revealed he is working on his health and trying to get in shape before releasing the album.
