A Ghanaian policeman has been caught on a viral tape slapping the hell out of an obvious recalcitrant at a voters registration centre.

The unnamed officer is seen in the video exchanging words with the woman who seems to be provoking the officer by defying his orders and making gestures that inevitably triggered the slap. The police administration has consequently launched an investigation into the matter.
In a statement released, the police administration wrote: ‘The attention of the Police Administration has been drawn to a video circulating on social media in which a police officer is seen slapping a woman at a place believed to be a Voters Registration Centre. The Police Administration wishes to assure the public that it has commenced an investigation into the matter and will provide facts of the matter to the public in due time, all should be assured.’
The voters registration exercise began nationwide Tuesday, June 30 an end on Thursday, August 6, according to promotional advertisements that started being rolled out on Sunday.

Although the decision by the EC to compile a new voters register has been met with resistance from some major political parties and civil society organizations (CSOs), it has started in earnest as Ghanaians rush to the various centres to partake in the process. Most of these opposers believe the timing for the compilation of a new register, particularly in an election year, is wrong.
