We have said in a previous article that gays are humans and should be treated with respect and dignity. A portion of the article reads, “We all have natural instincts which sometime supersede our sense of reasoning. If we are quick to dismiss human right in the context of homosekzuality that is a Western invention yet we embrace p#rn and other negative influences of the West, then we can be best described as hypocrites. Those who argue that homosekzuality degenerates our moral fibre should start with the issue of widespread nudity flaunted indiscriminately, alcohol and illicit drugs that we advertise on daily bases etc. Those who say homosekzuality is not a human right because it is not compatible with nature should are ignorant of what constitute.”

However Africans are yet fully assimilate this notion into their faculty. Reports from Tanzania indicate that the government has threatened to publish a list of gay people who allegedly sell sekz online.

Deputy Health Minister said on Twitter, “I will publish a list of gay people selling their bodies online. Those who think this campaign is a joke are wrong. The government has long arms and it will quietly arrest all those involved. Once arrested, they will help us find others.”

The government has previously closed down several AIDS clinics accused of promoting homosekzuality. To this end the Health Minister said, “We have suspended the provision of HIV and AIDS service at at least 40 drop-in centres operated by NGOs countrywide, after it was established that the centres were promoting homosekzuality, which is against Tanzania’s law.

Tanzania is one of the countries that has outlawed gay practices though the law is somewhat silent on lesbians. sekz between two males is punishable and one could be imprisoned up to 30-years.

We still think there are better ways to address this ‘problem’ than persecuting these people for doing what instincts dictates to them.
