For over a decade in the music game, Sarkodie has managed to entertain his Ghanaians with seven albums namely, Makye (2009), Rapperholic (2012), Sarkology (2014), Mary (2015), Highest (2017), Black Love (2019) and No Pressure (2021). These albums have put the rapper on the map and made his craft known but he is still unable to attain certain global stands most people are expecting him to do.

His fourth studio album “Mary” happens to be his best and the most enjoyed album so far. Although it has been so many years since he released the album, Ghanaians are still in love with the album considering the fact that it was live-band recorded, unlike his other albums that were completely computerized.

However, Sarkodie who has been aiming at the Grammy awards could have been the first Ghanaian artiste to ever grab a plaque from the award scheme if he had mounted the same energy he is putting into his recent album. This assertion was made by Abena Ruthy who after carefully scrutinizing the rapper’s craft believes he could have done more on his “Mary” album.

According to Ruthy, the “Mary” album has the originality and versatility of Sarkodie, yet he failed to promote the album in Ghana as expected and some works relating to that album were poorly programmed.

She further asked Sarkodie to compose a remix version of some of the songs on the “Mary” album and promote them just as he is doing with his “No Pressure” album.

Taking to her Facebook, she wrote;

“How I wish Sarkodie could have injected the kinda energy he’s mounting on the #NoPressure Album on to the #Mary Album, he could have even won “Grammy” with it..

“Hmm, #Mary album had and still have the originality and versatility of Sarkodie but man failed to promote it as expected in Ghana even from graphics (album cover art) to photo shoots and stuff were all substandard!!!
