President Nana Akufo-Addo has supported Ghana Premier League with GH₵900,000, which will be shared among the 18 clubs in the country’s top-flight league.

A statement confirming the news said, each club will receive an amount of GH₵50,000 from the Youth and Sports Ministry, who Akufo-Addo has authorised to release the money.

The money is to offset some of the club’s expenses in the era of the covid-19 pandemic.

The statement added that the money has become necessary because clubs are finding it difficult to cope with the directive of games being played behind closed doors.

Also other clubs in the Division One League, Caf inter-club competitions representative will be assisted with money in due course.

The league enters matchday 4 this weekend.
