In consonance with Anas’ impending exposé, popular sports presenter, SadD1ck Adams aka Sports Obamahas revealed how he personally uncovered the rot in Ghana football long before Anas launched his investigation.

According to him, a renowned football administrator made him aware of the various manipulations in various league games with referees in the country.

Obama says he’s ready to go to any length to remedy the rot which seems to have eaten deep into our football in Ghana.

Here’s what he wrote

“As a young vibrant sports journalist, I seriously wanted to a become a solid institution of local and African football football. I would choose CAF Champions League over UEFA Games.

I spent sleepless nights studying local and national teams. Past results, players, records, history and results patterns. At a point (those who know me from Sunyani will attest), I was known for my ardent interest and grasp of the local game. I loved to analyse matches, and predict games.

I was the originator of the popular ‘Ghana Premier League Player of the Week” on Ghanasoccernet’ which gave prominence to several local players in the league. I wasn’t this critical of sports and football governance and structures. I was not against or for any administration or system.

It was not until I moved to Angel FM in Kumasi, when I decided to continue with my trade. I started reading games, and analysing matches. Then a very well-known club chairman invited me over, complimented my efforts in promoting the local game.

But explained to me in confidence, that 70-80% of the games in Ghana are mostly FIXED. I couldn’t believe. He later introduced me to a top referee (now retired) and I sometimes sat in meetings.

At some weekends, the two could correctly tell me results of matches, particular scorers and in some instances when goals will be scored. Sometimes, goal kings could be decided midway in the season. This happened for more than 2 years.

National Team and club coaches asking for gifts (bribes) to offer players places in teams and shoddy call-ups.

It was after this, that I decided to help correct the system. It hasn’t been easy. It keeps getting worse, and so I WON’T stop any attempt to fight these wreckers. It is our game and it is the passion of the nation. We must fight to cleanse and weed the wicked characters OUT.

Italian Football is what it is today because of undercover investigations- the Calciopolli-which resulted in several top clubs and Italian mafia administrators, referees being jailed and banned for life.

It is a not a hate against any individual. It is not hate against any club. It is hate against crimes, corruption and bribery. It is hate against patronage, selfishness and greediness. It is fight to save the game.

Let no politician pretend to our problems better than we do.”
