The Member of Parliament for Manso Adubia Hon. Yaw Frimpong Addo has just made a comment which could potentially haunt the New Patriotic Party in the next general election. The MP slammed Ghanaians for complaining that things are hard since the NPP came to power.

The legislator said those complaining are very lazy or do not work and until they find something productive to do, they will continue to suffer. The minister made this brash comment when he was reacting to the comments by callers on Rainbow Radio’s morning show, Frontline hosted by Kwame Tutu.

The callers were unanimous in their assessment of the country under the tutelage of Nana Akufo Addo saying things are rather deteriorating. In response to that the MP said: ‘’You will continue to suffer if you fail to work. If you don’t change your mind, you will continue to suffer. Go out and find something to do. There is a paradigm shift; we are working with your budget and you are on radio complaining that things are hard. If things are hard, then it comes from your budget. So he must change his mind and go out and search for a job. Maybe he was getting money free of charge and so he is currently suffering and so I will advise him to go out and search for a job.’’

Perhaps in a bid to soften his stance he asked Ghanaians to gve his government more time to deliver on their campaign promises. He added: “The qualified, competent and apt ministers appointed by Nana Addo will deliver the best government ever. Ghanaians should exercise patience and allow the new administration deliver. We are only three months old as a government and so, we will admonish Ghanaians to be patient. We will deliver on every single promise. I am very confident that Nana Addo will deliver the best government ever.”

Honestly the legislator’s pronouncement is in a bad taste. Lots of the youth in this country are very industrious and doing everything possible to make headway in life but the opportunities are not there. Policies and framework to help in those in the labour font are just feeble and you sit on radio to say this?
