One of the Chibok girls who was abducted by the ruthless Bokom Haram has been found together with her six-month old child. Nigeria’s military said the nursing mother is undergoing medical checks.
In 2014, Bokom Haram kidnapped female students numbering 276 from the Government Secondary School in the town of Chibok in Borno State. Few of them have been released or escaped whilst an estimated 200 are still being held captive.
Bokom Haram is an extremist and terrorist organization based in northern Nigeria. They have tried to establish an Islamic caliphate in Nigeria, which is predominantly inhabited by Muslims. This has led to blood shed with 15,000 people killed already and rendered over two million homeless.
It’s absolutely mind boggling this bunch of people commits this acts in the name of religion and smears God’s name. Leader of the group Abubakar Shekau on 5 May 2014 posted a video and claimed that Allah instructed him to sell the kidnapped girls. “I will carry out his instructions. Slavery is allowed in my religion and I shall capture people and make them slaves.”
True Muslims and clerics have condemned this sort of acts saying it’s not consistent with the teachings of the Qur’an. According to the article Top Ten Ways Islamic Law Forbids Terrorism, author Juan Cole wrote, “Terrorism is above all murder. Murder is strictly forbidden in the Qur’an. Qur’an 6:151 says, “and do not kill a soul that God has made sacrosanct, save lawfully.” (ie murder is forbidden but the death penalty imposed by the state for a crime is permitted). 5:33 says, “…whoso kills a soul, unless it be for murder or for wreaking corruption in the land, it shall be as if he killed all mankind; and he who saves a life, it shall be as if he had given life to all mankind.”
So what is the motivation of these extremists who hide behind Islamic teachings to visit destruction onto mankind?
