The curtains of the protracted Menzgold saga has finally being drawn down and it’s not good news to business mogul Nana Appiah Mensah and his sympathizers.

Information we just gathered from Ghanatalksbusiness.com says that the gold firm won’t operate again and that NAM 1 as Nana Appiah Mensah is affectionately called, should do everything possible to pay all investors and depositors.

This was revealed by the deputy minister of Finance, Charles Adu Boahen during the Joy Business Financial Service Forum themed “The Changing Tide of Ghana’s Financial Service Sector: The Cause, The Cost, the Clean up.

The minister reportedly said,  “With the Menzgold issue, I think it is clear that the end is here. He is done”

Menzgold was shut down by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) after several warnings from them and Bank of Ghana (BoG) for operating without license.

Initially, Nana Appiah Mensah decided to play ‘circus’ with the warning and ignore the directives of SEC and BoG, ‘coercing’ his signed artistes like Shatta Wale and lot of well-wishers to ‘speak’ on his behalf and fight SEC.

As at press time, Menzgold has not been able to provide any document to counter the claims by SEC that the company is an illegal entity and that any person who does business with them does so at his or her own peril.

Instead NAM 1 hired one lawyer from UK to fight SEC and BoG for ‘intimidating’ them in the court of law here in Ghana.

We shall keep you posted on this report as it develops.
