Journalists from Multimedia Group and TV3 were on Wednesday reportedly manhandled by some workers of Menzgold for trying to seek reactions to the firm’s latest standoff with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).

It’s reported that the attacked media persons were Joy News reporter Kareen Dodoo and a pregnant TV3 journalist, Nana Akua.

The two journalists went there following a directive from SEC to have the gold dealership firm shut down its trading activities.

This directive led to a number of the company’s customers trooping to the East Legon branch to make panic withdrawals.

Both journalists were therefore at the place to report on reactions from customers but were shoved by some Menzgold staff and accused of taking photos without permission.

Miss Dodoo, the Multimedia journalist said her two phones and the microphone she took to the place were snatched, while TV3’s Nana Akua also had to engage the Menzgold staff to defend herself.

However, Joy News reports that their journalist still had to struggle with the workers as another worker grabbed her by the wrist and pulled her into the Menzgold office.

The issue was later resolved when one of the managers at Menzgold, Pious, apologised to her.

The reporter retrieved her microphone and mobile phones and was escorted out of the company’s premises.

Meanwhile, Menzgold, through its lawyers, says the directive to shut down or suspend its operations is untenable and therefore makes the company unable to comply with the terms of SEC.
