Coronavirus is literally bad news- aside from the indiscriminate killing it has subjected its victims to, it has gravely affected the quality of life in all facet.

In fact, people from all walks of life are feeling the gravity of the disease that has grounded most business to a halt and retarding the growth of the economy.

Here in Ghana, market women have seen the pandemic as a blessing in disguise as they cash in on poor and helpless Ghanaians who have no option than to buy the astronomical prices of their foodstuffs.

The situation got worst after the President announced that parts of Accra and Kumasi will be under lockdown for two weeks. It’s against this background that actress Lydia Forson bemoaned the attitude of the market women while revealing how the cycle of corruption in Ghana is woven around the loom of greed.

She wrote:

You increased sanitizer prices so the market woman couldn’t afford to protect herself. The market woman also increased her prices and you couldn’t afford to feed your family.

The doctors, nurses and other medical personnel can’t get the sanitizers they need, and food to eat; yet they have to treat you when you get sick.

What would happen if they also decided to increase the price of treating you. Corruption begins and ends with us.
