If there is any movie industry that has received much ridicules and scorn for lack of creativity and innovation, then it is certainly Kumawood. The irony of the whole situation is that Kumawood is still vibrant which means they are making more money.

Actress Lydia Forson has said she will love to feature in any Kumawood production only if the script is good. In other words she emphasing a quality output which embodies every aspect of the production and not merely the script.

She disclosed this on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV. She spoke highly of Kumasi based movies and urged a more sustained collaborations between the English speaking industry called Ghallywood and Kumawood.

She said: “Kumawood movies sell fast and they are progressing at a very fast pace than the Ghallywood films. If you travel abroad, that is what our Ghanaians out there watch and laugh about. These films are humorous and fun to watch. So if they (Ghallywood and Kumawood) could come together to make films, it would benefit both parts greatly,” she said.

“I have starred in a couple of Kumawood movies before… I actually was cast in a film with the late veteran actor Ebenezer Donkor aka Katawere … So I would definitely love to act in Kumawood movies, if only the script is quality,” the bubbly actress emphasised.
