The son of the late United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Kojo Annan has given the reasons Ghanaians should honor and stays true to the memory of his father by upholding the values he stood for.

According to him, his father’s quest for humanitarian values such as peace and unity needed to be upheld by all Ghanaians at home and abroad.

Granting an interview with 3news.com, the young Annan said that his father will be greatly missed by his loving family.

“He was a humanitarian and he believed in unity. He will be greatly missed”, he said.

Kojo is one of two children from Kofi Annan’s first marriage.

On Monday, the late Kofi Annan’s body arrived at the Kotoka International Airport in the evening.

His body will be laid in state on Tuesday, September 11. Friends, family and the general public are expected to make their way to the Accra Internation Conference Centre (AICC) to pay their respects.

Kofi Annan died in Bern, Switzerland earlier in August. He was the first black secretary-general of the United Nations and he served two consecutive 5-year terms from 1997 to 2006.
