Dumelo contested on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress for the parliamentary seat of Ayawaso West Wugoun constituency in the Greater Accra region during the 2020 President and Parliamentary General Elections of which he lost to the incumbent Hon. According to him, the decision of suspending this year’s academic fees in both public and private tertiary institutions in the country because of the COVID-19 pandemic will not be possible because NPP MPs voted against the idea.
