Iconic rapper Jay Z has publicly announced that he doesn’t want to be called Jay Z anymore. Hold on! The only change here is a hyphen between the Jay and the Z; Jay-Z, that’s it.

The multiple award-winning rapper, born Shawn Carter has is set to release a new album 4:44 on 30 June.

A representative for his Roc Nation label confirmed the name change with the Daily News and said it will be used on his yet to be released album, “4:44,” which comes out on his streaming service Tidal on June 30.

Change of names in the music industry to suit one’s new direction is not a new thing. P. Diddy (formerly Puff Daddy and other rappers have done that in the past.
