The United States of America, Canada and Mexico want to join forces to host the 20126 World Cup. The next edition will be hosted by Russia in 2018 followed by the controversial one awarded to Qatar (the first time the World Cup will be held in the Middle East, and in an Arab and a majority-Muslim country) which will be hosted in 2022.

The three countries made their intention known just yesterday April 10 at a New York press conference. If FIFA accept their proposal, it will actually be the first time three countries have jointly hosted the tournament.

The United States, according to the proposal presented will host 60 out of the 80 potential games including the quarter-final. The number of participating teams will rise from 36 to 48 (which means our Black Stars will definitely have a chance to qualify, since Russian 2018 has eluded us)

Currently no other country has submitted any bid so as it stands now, we should be poised for an historic event in 2026.
