Veteran hip-life musician, Obr afuor has revealed that he was actually the one who came up with the name Kasahare

, the local word for rap in an exclusive interview with Class FM.

He said:

Kasahare is a word I coined. I play with words, sometimes I do try to make up my own words and that’s how come I got it.

 

I was trying to understand how rap will be called in the Twi [language]. I realized rap is like fast-talking, so I said why not call it ‘kasahare’.

The legendary musician also used the moment to name his favourite Ghanaian rappers. He mentioned Reggie Rockstone, Sarkodie, M.anifest, Kofi Kinaata, Okyeame Kwame, E.L. and Tee Flow.

Obrafour, born Michael Elliot Kwabena Okyere Darko is one of the most revered rappers in the game.
