The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), James Oppong Boanuh has met with the Bank of Ghana and its stakeholders over the decision of acquiring armored vehicles for transporting their money.

Recall the IGP earlier this morning issued out a statement to the Bank of Ghana and all other banks in the country to acquire an armored vehicles that will be used for transporting their monies if they still want personnel(s) from the Ghana Police Service to continue protecting their facility and escort them when transporting money.

Mr. James Oppong Boanuh through the statement gave the Bank of Ghana and the various banks in the country to acquire the said vehicles by the end of June if they still want to continue enjoying the services of the police service.

In a new development, the IGP has today met with the Bank of Ghana and all the other stakeholders in the measures to take in securing their facilities and vehicles whenever they are transporting money.

Statement issued out by the public affairs directorate of the police service on the meeting suggest the various banks are ready to equip security personnel(s) on bank security duties with the necessary protective gears for them to execute their duties safely.

The Second Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Mrs Elsie Addo Awadzi assured the police service that the various commercial banks in the country will now implement the use of standardized equipment for specie and cash in transit services by June 30th.
