Michael Okine Mint, popularly called Jupitar likes to blow his trumpet once in a while. His music actually testifies that he is one of the best in the Dancehall fraternity, so his posture cannot be misconstrued at all.
In a radio interview about he needs much recognition than he;s getting now, the musician said:
“If you mention Dancehall in Ghana then you have to call Jupitar, talking from the root of it. We brought it into the limelight and others polished it. There were people like Root Eye doing Dancehall but it wasn’t mainstream so when I came with my first and second songs, it was all over.
The likes of Shatta Wale, Stonebwoy, Iwan and others refined it to make it more commercial to the people so I think they also did a good job but If you’re talking about proper or authentic dancehall in Ghana, then you have to call Jupitar.
