Minister OJ released the ‘Mayɛ Sɛ Mo Pɛn’ song in later 2013 and received a wild reaction from Ghanaians and music lovers both home and abroad. The song received massive airplay across all the traditional media space in the country which later earned him a few nominations.

The song got nominated in the 2014 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards including the Gospel Song of the Year category and also helping Minister OJ in receiving other nominations into other categories like the Gospel Artiste of the Year and Songwriter of the Year.

Unfortunately, the ‘Adon ne Odo’ hitmaker lost the Gospel Artiste of the Year award and the Songwriter of the Year award to Minister Sonnie Badu and Highlife singer Bisa Kdei respectively but won for himself the Gospel Song of the Year award.

Speaking with Andy Dosty this morning on the ‘Day Break Hitz’ morning show on Accra-based radio station Hitz FM in an exclusive interview, Minister OJ revealed he felt really disappointed when he couldn’t win the Songwriter of the Year award.

He said although Bisa Kdei deserved to win the award, he felt he was having a better chance of winning the award among his other colleagues in the category and he was in high hopes of winning that award.

The ‘Ete Sen’ crooner stated he got really angry when he was called to stage to come and perform after losing that award and he wanted to prove a point to the organizers that indeed he can really do it by putting his frustrations and anger in his performance.

He left the audience in the auditorium thrilled with his performance to the extent that legendary musician Rex Omar went on stage to carry him shoulder-high after the performance.
