Diana Hamilton for the past couple of days has been through several scrutinies from the general public and on several entertainment programs and platforms after w9inning the Artiste of the Year award at the just-ended 22nd edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) held at the Accra International Conference Center last weekend.

The ‘Adom’ hitmaker beat some tough opponents like Medikal, Sarkodie, Adina, Kuami Eugene, and Kidi to become the first female alive to win the ultimate award of the event and the second Gospel musician to do so after Joe Mettle a couple of years back.

Many are of the view that Kidi should have won the award instead of Diana Hamilton because he was the ‘clear favorite’ for the award after he won the Artiste of the Year award at the 2021 3Music Awards couple of months ago.

Some entertainment pundits including Mark 2 and Mr. Logic have been slamming the VGMAs board for Diana’s win claiming she doesn’t deserve it.

In her submission this morning on the ‘Day Break Hitz’ morning show hosted by Andy Dosty on Accra-based Hitz Fm, Rya reacted to the various attacks launched against Diana Hamilton and her win at the VGMAs stating she feels bad and hurt for the Gospel musician.

She added Ghanaians should accept the reality and push her works to bigger platforms rather than making it look like she doesn’t deserve the award because it’s really unfair to her that all these things are coming up now that she has won.
