The reigning Artiste of the Year, Joe Mettle has said he is not bothered by criticisms from a section of Ghanaians that he doesn’t merit the topmost prize he won at the 18th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards.
The Owanwani hitmaker has been subjected to barrage of criticism when he was adjudged the winner the Artiste of the Year over the weekend. He beat much fancied artistes like E.L, Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, MzVee, and Medikal.
“I am one person; I try not to allow certain things to influence my path, I’m still who I am, certain things don’t really bother me like that, you need people like that, you can ignore. You will always have people like that and I think there is more to be done than what we have done, so if it was two times it has to be more than that so that those who never heard my songs will hear it more”
He however extended his gratitude to his family and fans for the support they have shown him and dedicated his win to them. “That force had a lot of influence in this win,”
Joe Mettle also revealed the overwhelming support he had from Christians in general: “It was a gospel thing…it was a Christian thing and the support from the church was something else. I had told someone that if we had not won the night the love alone was too much”.
