Bulldog has expressed his disappointment with the fact that One Corner hitmaker Pataapa was overlooked as far as the Artiste of the Year category is concerned.

The former manager of Shatta Wale opined that  One Corner crossed boundaries and was all over Africa so he simply cannot comprehend why the VGMA board ignored the Swedru-based musician.

He said:

If you’re cutting someone out it should not be Patapaa. This is recognition; you don’t go silent or dark on them.

You could have added his name even if he didn’t win. When people put in effort to work, let’s recognize it [the effort]. I’m highly disappointed.

However, George Quaye reacted sharply to Bulldog’s assertion, saying the rules and codes for choosing nominees for ‘Artiste of the Year’ is different from ‘Song of the year’ category.

George Quaye, who happens to be the Head of Communications at Charterhouse, added that if everyone was satisfied with the nominations then work done by the Committee would be zero.

He said:

If everyone is satisfied, we didn’t do the work well. That is not what we should look for; the reactions are natural. It will always happen because it is not new and won’t be the last.

He therefore urged the general public to visit the Ghana Music Awards website for further clarifications on the criteria for selecting musicians into the various categories.
