After a few days of sparking heavy controversies amid criticisms from social media users and some stakeholders of the Nollywood industry over the news about the Actors Guild of Nigeria (AGN)’s visit to Regina Daniels after she welcomed a baby, some worried Nigerians have raised the alarm about some few issues, expressing disappointment at the AGN.
You would recall that the AGN visited Regina Daniels and her husband, Ned Nwoko at her residence where they crowned her son, as the ‘Nollywood baby of the Year’.

Some netizens have castigated AGN for neglecting some sick Nollywood actress Ify Onwuemene, and also not doing the same gesture they did for Regina Daniels for Halima Abubakar, a member of the guild who also welcomed a baby a few months ago.
A fellow Nollywood actress, Gloria Young announced on Instagram that Ify needs urgent help to overcome the Cancer disease.

Gloria wrote:
“Folks please we need help for our sister @ifyonwuemene an actress from the days of Sam loco and Enebeli Elebuwa. I worked with her last on the set of Tajudeen Adepetu’s “Everyday People” in the late 90’s. She is down with endometrial cancer. She has tried sourcing for funds on her own, but nothing is too small. Please send whatever you can to Ifey Onwuemene, Fidelity Bank 6010999993.

You would also recall that a few days ago, Lala Akindoju fumed at AGN for misplacing their priorities after photos of their visit to Regina Daniels went viral on social media.

“This is actually shameful. In these times where the actor’s guild should show leadership on pressing issues like navigating the industry with COVID-19, like creating structures to stop sexual harassment in the industry. This is their priority. Even if you visit your member, must you film and post? The videos we need to see about future and safety of practitioners. Yet, they abuse us and insist that we join. Sigh! It is shameful because they should use the same energy to do the things that actually move the industry forward”.
