Kumkum Bhagya, which means Twist of Fate is a Hindi-language Indian soap opera from Indian introduced to us by Adom TV.

The story revolves around a famous musician called Abhi who married Pragya, initially thought to be the love interest of the person who was the crush of Abhi’s sister, but ends up knowing the truth and falls in love with her.

The pivotal characters of this show are strong, feisty women, living together in an all-female matriarchal family. The interesting aspect of this serial drama is the fact that the language has been dubbed in Twi, the most widely spoken language in Ghana.

Ghanaians quickly embrace this concept wholeheartedly and this made pave the way for other copycat TV stations in the country to follow suit.

However available survey we have conducted indicate that people’s enthusiasm with regards to the drama has waned considerably owing to the ridiculous long plot.

Mr Samuel Appiah, (he is the director of movies like Born Again, Nipa nua ne Nipa and Manidasoo Asa) known in the industry as Sampower has said, has also observed this and has sort of warned people to desist from watching and rather focus their attention on local productions.

“Let me tell you that a lot of people have given up to watching Kumkum Bhagya. Many people have confessed to me that the prolonging of the series has made them fed up with the watching of it. I can tell you that Ghanaians have better story line than the Indians. The story line of Kumkum Bhagya has no meaning”, he added.
