Ghana Election 2020; Flagbearer of opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama has made clarity that, he launched Free SHS in 2015 when he was in power as president.
The statement of the former President looks to debunk claims by New Patriotic Party (NPP) that, if Ghanaians voter for Mahama and NDC, they will cancel the Free SHS policy.
Speaking at a rally at Tuobong, in the Upper East Region, Mahama said “We started the programme and the NPP came and continued it. Unfortunately, the implementation has been very poor, and so it ended us in the double track. I assure you, my countrymen, that within one year, I will cancel the double track.”

The Free Senior High School Policy was fully enrolled in the Ghana Education system in 2017 by President Akufo-Addo led NPP government.
However, former President John Dramani Mahama initiated the programme with ‘Progressive Free SHS’ in 2015.
