President of Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on Sunday 20 September, 2020, in his speech on Ghana Covid-19 updates, says 26 new cases have been recorded at Kotoka International Airport since it reopening after the pandemic lock down.

Speaking on the 17th update on Covid-19, from the Jubliee House, President Akufo-Addo confirmed that, the Accra International Airport; Kotoka through it testing of passengers has recorded a total of 26 new positive cases.

““As at yesterday, Saturday, a total of 10,061 passengers have been tested at Kotoka. A total of 26 positive cases have been recorded from the test.” The President confirmed.”

Although, all passengers are to do the testing 72 hours before arriving in Ghana.

For this reason, according to the President, there is no need to rush into opening other borders and ports in the country.

Despite the complains raised by some Ghanaians about the fees for the testing, the president argues that, the efficiency of the process of the test and it quality has called for such price, and people who have gone through the experiences praise the government for the measures it has instituted at the airport to fight the disease.

“A lot of people, who have experienced the service being offered at our international airport, have praised the country for the innovation and for the farsightedness displayed at our airport.” He defended.

President Akufo-Addo, also promised to continue implement pragmatic measures that will limit the infection rate of the pandemic and if possible, eradicate it from the country.

“Let me assure you again, that as the president of the Republic, I will do everything in my power to protect you and stop the importation of the virus into our country on limiting it spread. This is my solemn commitment to you” He ended.
