It is has officially emerged that contrary to the report by re nowned journalist Kojo Yankson of Multimedia that the infamous Atomic Junction gas explosion was started by a khebab vendor, the disaster was actually caused by mainly by a driver’s mate who had no license on LPG and also no knowledge of how to transfer gas.

This was contained in an interim report by the National Petroleum Authority (NPA). According to the 8-page report, the scared driver’s mate ran for his life after realizing he could not stop the gas from leaking – a development which led to a ghastly explosion which killed 7 persons.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Newsfile program, Chief Executive of the NPA, Hassan Tampuli explained how the explosion came about. According to him, it all happened when ” a driver with the LPG Truck Drivers and Installers Association parked the gas tanker at the Atomic Junction premises of the gas station.”

Ghanaians were skeptically about Yankson’s preliminary report and trolled him heavily on social media for his lack of professionalism to which he later retracted and duly apologized.
