Theresa Ayoade, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Charterhouse, has designated that the 2020 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMAs) is set to occur in August.

Following President Akufo-Addo’s plans to ease some of the restrictions to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, she made that decision.

Regardless of the likely challenges, her team was planning to offer the greatest entertainment to their audience in August.

Mrs Theresa informed Accra-based Joy FM, “The challenges of putting together logistics and not being sure of expected revenue is a real issue. In normal times, we will have been able to sell up to 4,000 tickets in VGMA-related events, but it is not so now”.

As organisers, Charterhouse was expecting to using the digital space and new strategies for events set forth by the Tourism Ministry.

The 2020 VGMAs will have a live audience, observing social-distancing and health protocols unlike the just-ended 3Music Awards which was a virtual event, she added.

Mrs Ayoade finally added that, preparations for a virtual alternative was ongoing to help grounded Ghanaian artistes and audience in foreign countries.
