An American rapper is suing top Hip Hop star Childish Gambino for allegedly ‘stealing’ the blueprint of the in making his hit song ‘This Is America’.

Emelike Nwosuocha, is a rapper who performs under the stage name Kidd Wes has claimed in a new lawsuit that Childish Gambino blatantly ripoff of a track that sounds similar, has a similar name and was all over the Internet almost 2 years before the rapper’s top hit song was released.

Recall Childish Gambino released the ‘This Is America’ song in 2018 and became one of the hit songs in the world and even went on to win a Grammy award for the Record of the Year in the 61st Annual Grammy Awards.

According to Kidd Wes, he created his song ‘Made In America’ in September 2016 on popular music streaming platform Sound Cloud in 2016 and released it on YouTube couple months later where people could listen to it for free.

Kidd Wes also added that he registered the song with United State Copyright Office in May 2017, stating that the song was set to be the lead single on his upcoming album.

According to the court documents, Kidd Wes claims the chorus of Gambino’s ‘This is America’ song is unmistakably similar to his ‘Made In America’ song. He added that Gambino’s ‘flow’ on the song is also substantially similar to his, and points out some to key lyrics in ‘Made In America’ being similar to the hook’s refrain in ‘This Is America’.

Kidd Wes believes he was intentionally ripped off by the rapper and his management and he wants major damages.

He’s suing Gambino, the co-writers of ‘This Is America’, the record labels that put it out, Roc Nation Records, and even Young Thug who did backup vocals on the song.

Childish Gambino is yet to comment on the issue.
