“I can’t breathe, you are killing me” were the last words of Mr. Frank Ugboru before he died in the hands of more than 4 policemen on the street of South London in the year 2006.

Frank traveled to the UK to attend a friend’s wedding where he met his untimely death in the hands of the police. According to the report, the 43-year-old man had a minor argument with a resident and was later asked to stay away from the flat by the police who were called to resolve the issue. Minutes after a non-violent chat, he was arrested for the “fear of breach of peace”

The was a struggle in his arrest where CS Gas was used, handcuffed and brought to the floor. The struggle continued where frank was heard shouting: “I can’t breathe, you are killing me”.

Several officers joined in restraining the unarmed man by striking him while he was handcuffed on his back, lying facedown with their knees on his neck They ignored and kept pressing until they realized he was dead when they turned him over.

No arrests were made in that period. The case has resurfaced and under review by the Crown Prosecution Service, awaiting findings from the incidence. Meanwhile, coroners have asked the police administration to review the police training.
