Already, the ‘African Giant’ is the only African artiste who has won the award on two consecutive times (back to back) since the category was first introduced by the organizers of the musical event in 2010.

Winning the two awards within the last two years equals the record which was held by his other two fellow Nigerian Afrobeats singers Wizkid and Davido. Wizkid is the most African artiste nominated in that category with 4 already nominations and winning 2 out of it, Davido on the other hand has had 3 nominations so far with him also winning 2 out of it.

But Burna Boy with his fast pace has been able to equal this record with just two nominations and winning them all in the last two editions of the award. Now he stand the chance of winning it for the third time in a row after he was nominated for that category in the next edition of the award.

Burna Boy will be facing a tough opposition from some top artists like his fellow Nigerian colleague Wizkid who will be making his fifth appearance in the category, Diamond Platnumz from Tanzania on his third appearance.

Other artists nominated for the Best International Act category in the 2021 BET Awards includes Aya Nakamura from France, Emicida from Brazil, Headie One from the United Kingdom, France’s Youssopha and Young T & Bugsey also from the United Kingdom.

The 2021 BET Awards will be held on June 27th 2021 and the organizers of the show are putting measures in place to have a fully vaccinated audience attendance.
