Legendary Hiplife record engineer and producer Da Hammer has waded into the various awards scheme in Ghana stating that it normally gives artists depression.

The Last Two Entertainment Record Label boss started the way and manner in which the various awards in the country are organized ends up hurting most musicians in the country by pushing them into depression than rewarding them for their works.

He stated he can make mention of a Hiplife rapper like Okomfour Kwabee who was so depressed after losing an award a couple of years back.

Speaking on Multimedia’s Accra-based Akan radio station Asempa FM over the weekend, Da Hammer suggested that it’s about the industry have a critical look at how some awards are being organized in Ghana.

He quizzed how can an artist will be nominated for nine categories in a particular edition of an award, will be given a front row seat at the auditorium during the event, and go home without winning not even a single award on the night.

He said most musicians after failing on winning anything on awards night are even forced to switch off their phones to avoid people and the trolls that normally go on social media using Takoradi-based Hiplife/ Hip Hop rapper Pappy Kojo as a critical example.

The ‘Hoho Asem’ crooner revealed that he knows of so many artists who have been through depression just because they failed to win an award and urged the various awards schemes in the country to modify their ways.
