The Education Think Tank lambasted the GES for refusing to enact the shifting system in schools to reduce the number of students.

It also said that the GES has failed to cap the number of students in a class after the President reopened schools last month.

According to their Executive Director, Kofi Asare, the GES must act fast to curb the spread of the deadly virus since some schools have already begun recording cases.

“Teachers are hesitant in adapting the shift system because they are not sure whether they are going to be given an extra enumeration for working from morning till 4:30 pm

should they adopt the system. So, you go to schools and teachers are hesitant,” he told Starr News.

“and the GES is also not pushing it because it looks as if they don’t have money. Because of the indecision by the GES on the running of shift systems and the class caps, you are having a situation where Accra schools are very much congested.”

“And when you have such situation, you definitely will be expecting exposure to the risk of contracting the virus and for that matter the numbers that we are beginning to see especially in Accra.” He added.
