A 69-year-old Bolivian woman identified as Carmen Pilar narrowly escaped ‘eternal death’ when she was able to wake up just in time before she was preserved for burial.

This frightening incident happened after the old woman’s family abandoned her at a funeral home by her family even though she was still alive. Carmen was diagnosed with a brain tumour which was irreversible and that could have influenced the decision of her family members.

Report suggest Carmen Pilar spent a night on a table covered in a cloth at the funeral home in La Paz and was presumed dead.

On the following morning, funeral parlor workers were about to inject her with formaldehyde when they heard her crying.

According to Daily Mail, the workers contacted Carmen’s family, but they reportedly refused to take her back.

They then called the police, who have arrested Carmen’s daughter, cousin and son-in-law for the abandonment.
