Three people have been arrested after the police intercepted some drugs that were destined for Cape Town.

This was contained in a recent statement released the South African Police Service and it was revealed that the arrest was made on May 3.

CAPE TOWN – Detectives from Organised Crime, Narcotics unit in Vredendal followed information about a vehicle in the area transporting drugs to Cape Town on Monday afternoon. As part of their operational response, the members took to the N7 route assisted by provincial traffic officials. The vehicle was pulled over. With the assistance of the Namaqualand K9 Unit, the vehicle was thoroughly searched. A hidden compartment was discovered where the following drugs were discovered:

•8,98 kilograms of crystal meth
•2,08 kilograms of heroin
•3,26 kilograms of cocaine

Two men aged 39 and 32 as well as a 33-year-old woman were arrested on charges of dealing in drugs.

The monetary value of the consignment is estimated at R5, 5 million.

The suspects will appear in court in Klawer on Wednesday, 05 May 2021 on charges of possession of drugs and dealing in drugs.

The operational response of all parties involved is applauded by the Western Cape SAPS management as efforts to rid communities of drugs gain momentum.”
