President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has said former President John Dramani Mahama left no money in the government’s account when he and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) left office in 2016.

President Akufo-Addo has said his administration came into office hoping that there was money saved to at least use in his first year in office, but met an unfortunate surprise when he came to meet zero money in the government account.

Akufo-Addo has made this revelation in an interview on Friday 4 September, 2020 with Accra based media house Oman Fm.

“When we came into office, we were hoping to meet some money to start the first year with. What a surprise! There was nothing left in the account. Absolutely nothing. We have to work hard, find ways to raise money to govern the country.” He said.

He also said that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has build the economy from scratch, and Ghana is now considered one of the fast growing economies in West Africa.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has therefore, asked Ghanaians to give him another 4 year mandate to govern the country to build a better and stronger economy.
