A 19-year-old boy identified as Kwaku Duah has been sentenced to 6 years imprisonment by the Goaso Circuit court for being an arsonist.

The court presided over by His Lordship, Charles Kwesi Acheampong gave Kwaku Duah six years after he set the Asunafo South District Police Commander’s office at Kukuom on fire.

According to the prosecutor, Chief Inspector Truth Kofi Hukporti, the accused deliberately set a tricycle parked at the police station on fire.

The accused pleaded guilty to the crime and said that he had an issue with the owner of the tricycle thus his reason for setting it on fire as a way of teaching the owner a lesson.

The court found him guilty in his own plea and sentenced him to six years of hard labor by the court.

Kwaku Duah was ordered by the Goaso Circuit Court to pay a compensation fee of GHC15,000 to the owner of the tricycle and an amount of GHC3,600 to the police station for the damages he caused with his actions.

Also, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong has said that Akuapem Poloo should have been given a year sentence to serve as a lesson to others.

According to him, most people are misusing the social media platform by posting unnecessary stuff on the platform. He said that Akuapem Poloo should be used as a deterrent for others, adding that people who follow suit should be arrested and jailed.
